About The Event
Blair Valley is located Northeast of Julian on highway S2. It is a transitional desert ecosystem that tends to get more water and support more varitety of plants than the lower deserts further North and East. There are some very intersting Native American sites within several miles of the camping are, as well as the site of the Butter Field Stage Route.
There is great hiking, mountain biking, boulder scrambling, and off-roading located within Blair and Little Blair Valley as well as the imediate surrounding areas. About a 25 minute drive further South on S2 will bring you to Agua Caliente County Park where you can take a dip in their hot spring fed pool for $3 parking and $3 per person for pool entry. Aqua Caliente is also a great place to spot big horn sheep.
Camping is disbursed along the rocky foothill ridge line. We will choose a place adequatly sized to hold our group and try to not be too far away from the bathroom which is located near the entrance of of S2.
This is a PRIMATIVE campground meaning there are no tables, fire pits, shade structures, designated campsites, multiple bathroom sites, running water, trash recepticles, etc. You will be responsible for all of your water, food, camping gear, and supplies.
We will have a Potluck dinner Saturday night with sign ups to follow.
When the sun goes down and the stars come out we will lean back our chairs, throw out the blankets, and make memories looking at the constalations and watching shooting stars streak the sky!
