About The Event
We will go hunting for wildflowers at on of the Calaveras trails.
Enjoy great features all within reach of any age. Start from Oak Riparian park in Oceanside and start off along the year-round creek that feeds Lake Calavera. You will find mature Live Oak trees and rich wetland vegetation. Keep you eye out for the spring that is directly across the creek bank from the park creek crossing. (Look for cattail reeds.)
Hiking options are short out and backs with some loop add on options. From the park creek crossing, you can go left and hike about 1/4 mile along the creek until the concrete bridge in the creek. This area has some large oaks over the creek and sometimes a rope swing.
Second option would be to go right after the park crossing and head toward the lake. About 1/4 mile along you will enter the boardwalk area through the wetlands.
We will choose our route depending on the group with us that day.
